A healthy, nutrient dense diet is essential for those of us wanting to look and perform at our best.
The optimal diet for this should include:
3 cups of cooked veggies and 3 cups of leafy greens daily.
Leafy greens contain lots of water, are full of vitamins, minerals, disease fighting photochemical and fibre.
Fibre helps slow the absorption of carbs into the bloodstream following a meal, which prevents blood sugar spikes and keeps you feeling full for longer.
This helps with weight loss and maintenance.
Try the GREEN DAY challenge where one day a week everything you eat is green!!
Monday is my day and here are some of my favourites.
Throw a handful of baby spinach,celery,cucumber
1/2 Avocado, kiwi fruit and even a green apple if you wish
into your blender with ice and yummmm!
Your favourite greens plus 1 green fruit
topped with 1/2 cup edemame (soya beans)
and olive oil, balsamic dressing.
Snack on Wasabi Peas.
I love a big serve of steamed greens with preserved lemon dressing for dinner.
